Kiton
StoreDespite a mere 60 m² of space, the Kiton store in Rome on the bustling Via del Babuino near the Spanish Steps offers a quite unique shopping and brand experience. The central arch-shaped passageway in the middle of the store was seized upon as principal element to create a relationship to the site by referring to the ancient typology, though an atmospherically structured space is intended, too. The delicately laced stainless-steel arches with flanking wooden look are set forth in different emphases as a stripe motif on all areas within the space, conveying the impression of meandering through a beautifully packaged gift. At the same time, the items on display are allocated very clearly. The stainless steel bases of the shelves and the garment racks follow up on the arch structure and emphasize it. In contrast, an intriguing entryway situation, the changing room, a small presentation of shoes and unusually accessible display areas behind the shop windows arise due to the dynamically tailored spandrels between the arches and frames. With the help of the mirrored terminating partition as ‘final chord’ in front of the adjoining rooms, the space is seemingly elongated into infinity.
