Carré Mainzer Landstraße
Office and residential buildingFrankfurt am Main, GermanyThe Carré in Frankfurt’s Mainzer Landstrasse, lies close to the Finance district, and the Conference Centre, in an area that is characterised by a mixture of indistrial, commercial and residential use. The largest part of the 8300 square metre site is filled with an office complex, comprising six independent units. Four of these six-storey units are positioned centrally, in windmill fashion around a glazed atrium. On the gable of the units there are alternatively, two-storey enclosing, framing elements, or green spaces. Thus, alternatively offset office tracts meander with generous green areas. The six-storey offices allow for flexible use and sub-division: combi-zones, twin-corridor solutions, and open-plan office spaces, are all possible. In Frankenallee, a six-storey apartment building is a pleasant transition between the offices and the older residential buildings. The maisonettes are L-shaped, and so, intersect in section. On the north side, a public green space is connected to the building, thereby creating a pleasant, natural atmosphere for the entire development.
