Strandkai FIFTYNINE
Residential buildingHamburg HafenCity, GermanyThe Strandkai residential quarter is being developed at one of the most prominent locations in Hamburg's HafenCity on the western tip of the Strandkai peninsula. Four residential buildings, two 7-storey block typologies and two residential towers, which will significantly characterize the southern cityscape, are embedded in an overall planning of warft storeys and high-quality outdoor facilities. The residential tower designed by Hadi Teherani with 15 upper storeys and a staggered storey at the top is located directly next to the Marco Polo Tower. The corresponding height development and the emphasis on the horizontal create a dialog between the buildings. The design is based on a variation in the layering of the storeys with surrounding balconies. Stacked penthouses whose corner points jump back and forth following a rhythm. The result is a dynamic structure that does justice to its exposed location. All apartments benefit from the wrap-around balconies, which can be perceived like ship decks over the water and provide an outdoor connection for all interior spaces. In addition, the spacious loggias offer sweeping views over the Elbe and the city as well as the Elbphilharmonie concert hall.
The Fiftynine Strandkai building is certified with the HAFENCITY Gold certificate.
»The resident overlooks the river and the city and has a fantastic view. The view of passing ships and into the distance is like a game of scenery. If you sit down for an hour and just look straight ahead, the levels start to shift. At Strandkai, residents have the opportunity to enjoy this play around the clock.«Hadi Teherani
»We wanted to build a fresh building that is reminiscent of different ship decks. If you look from the inside to the outside, the wrap-around balconies create a continuation of the boat with an adjacent ship's railing.«Hadi Teherani
