Zayed Waterpalace

Living bridge

The location, design, dimension and capability for diversified usage all contribute towards making the Zayed Water Palace a unique project that is going to rank among the premier landmarks of Abu Dhabi. Height is not the striking feature here: the palace links the sweeping curve of Corniche Road with Lulu Island across a length of 800 metres. Historic role models are invoked in the ogive arches and simultaneously converted into an example of contemporary engineering ingenuity. In keeping with the tradition of the Ponte Vecchio in Florence, the Zayed Water Palace is a modern enactment of a ‘living bridge’. The arches are illuminated by meticulously staged lighting effects to become a finely crafted fantasy world. Passing underneath the bridge on a yacht turns into a one-of-its-kind experience.
