Pingwang Residences
Residential QuarterThe project is located at the confluence of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and the Taipu River (the source of the Huangpu River). The site has a plot size of approx. 45,000 m² with roughly 80,000 m² of floor space. The draft consists of nine residential towers facing south towards Cao Dang Lake. The volumes have been positioned so that the view of the water can be enjoyed from each apartment. The façade design uses water as a motif to develop a wave-shaped appearance. Each balcony is strategically swiveled to “frame” a lakeview panorama and foster interaction between human beings and nature. Whereas the planning follows parametric patterns to achieve this, the architectural configuration generates emotionality via the curved concave shapes and anticipated interplay of light and shadow. The landscape architecture expands the natural element stemming from the lake directly into the residential compound to create a green park that provides residents with a wide variety of options for use. The holistic concept comprised of architecture and landscape enables a high-quality and sustainable living environment.
