Guanglan Road Urban Hub I
Headquarters, hotel, offices, sports and commercial areasThe Guanglan Road Urban Hub is an urban quarter in Zhangjian Town in the Pudong District of Shanghai. Encompassing an area of approximately 158,000 square meters above ground and an additional 20,000 square meters below ground, this project merges the protected-monument structures along the water in the south with a modern city component in the north. A prominent “canyon” serves as a defining element thereby: it arranges the main program functions and guides natural light to the lower-lying retail zones. It links the transport node in the northeast directly to the waterfront in the southwest. Arrayed along its northern side are a sort of “chain of pearls” made up of high-rises involving different programs and clearly categorized addresses. As the new headquarters for one of the world's largest construction groups, the project boasts a headquarters spanning 45,000 square meters, a hotel covering 20,000 square meters, office spaces totaling 60,000 square meters, and above-ground retail areas occupying 30,000 square meters, with an additional 20,000 square meters underground. They are supplemented by two residential high-rises as well as a sports and leisure-time complex along the southern perimeter of the plot. The architectural concept blends the old and the new, thus creating a harmonious and dynamic venue that commemorates the site's heritage while providing modern functionality at the same time.
