The BOW
Office buildingWith the project entitled “THE BOW”, a six-storey office building is being constructed in Freiburg, Germany on the grounds of the freight yard situated in the northern part of the city. THE BOW is being augmented by certified sustainability in compliance with the guidelines from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) along with an IT infrastructure pursuant to the standards issued by WiredScore. As a consequence it will present itself as the first WiredScore-certified new building complex in Freiburg. This, in turn, ensures outstanding connectivity and a fail-safe digital infrastructure for tenants. THE BOW will be a trailblazing construction project in a striking curved layout. A closed, dynamically profiled beam construction with an arcade facing the street and an expressive cantilevered extension jutting out approximately eight metres at the north-western end lend the building a unique identity. Each unit for utilisation provides access to staggered loggias and balconies. The communal rooftop terrace on the 5th floor with power-generating pergola becomes an inspiring place to meet. The project sets not only architectural but ecological standards as well via an innovative photovoltaic façade through which sustainable energy is obtained. With circa 6,700 m² of rental space distributed across 17 flexibly linkable units, the project equally sets new benchmarks for up-to-date working conditions in a one-of-its-kind architectural environment that enables classic and “New Work” office concepts to the same degree. An extensive outfitting with charging stations and sufficient bicycle stands actively promotes sustainable routes to work. General contractor Dressler Bau GmbH has been commissioned with construction and is endeavouring towards completion in the summer of 2025.
