Wolters Erlebniswelt
Mix of usesTo expand the openly accessible areas at this large brewery’s “Erlebniswelt”, its world to experience, the event hall, offices and conference spaces are being aggregated within a slope-like building shell that slants southwards towards the old Hofbrauhaus brewery. The top floor houses the fitness club with bar. The structure’s intensively planted slope displaying five large terraces, the so-called hanging beer gardens, can be reached via inner serpentine switchbacks or by means of stairs at the side of the building. The internal uses are scaled up and augmented in a variety of ways as a result of the directly adjoining free spaces. A listed landmark, the Hofbrauhaus itself will be supplemented by a clearly delineated structural body containing a microbrewery. What emerges is an effective shielding from the railway along with a plaza for events with up to 5,000 visitors between the hanging beer gardens and the old brewery building. The highly versatile scenarios for operation range from multiple events held simultaneously up to a large-scale event, e.g. a jazz festival throughout the new plant complex.
